Pharmacy Contractors, last night, voted 80% in favour of the LPC setting up a provider company to bid for local pharmacy services on behalf of contractors. As you will know Gateshead and South Tyneside LPC, along with our colleagues in Co Durham and Darlington LPC and North of Tyne LPC have been exploring the options of forming a provider company. A vote and EGM was held jointly where 80% of contractors voting across the three LPC areas voted in favour. This now allows the LPC’s to proceed with the formation of PSNE Ltd (Pharmacy Services North East). The company will be used as a vehicle by the LPC’s to work with the ever changing NHS to ensure that Community Pharmacy is able to bid for services in the future. More information about the company and membership details will be published shortly. The votes for the three LPC areas were as follows.. EGM to discuss LPC Provider Company proposals and vote. - 29th June 2016 - Quality Hotel East Boldon20/6/2016 Gateshead & South Tyneside LPC, North of Tyne LPC and Co. Durham and Darlington LPC have been working together to explore the formation of a provider company which could be used to tender for commissioned services. The LPC's wrote to all their contractors explaining the process that was to be followed and seeking approval for the LPC to begin the exploration of this option. The three LPC's decided that it would be advantageous to work together. We would now like to invite you to an EGM contractor meeting on the 29th June at the Quality Hotel in East Boldon where we will present the case in person as well as answer any questions and take a vote. We would like to encourage as many contractors as possible to attend. We have put together an FAQ and will shorty be adding further documentation to our website for contractors to review. If you can not attend you will be able to vote electronically through our website. We have set up a dedicated webpage at www.gandstlpc.net/providercompany to hold the information as it becomes available. The online booking form for the EGM and e-vote will also be held there. If you can not attend the meeting but would like to ask a question or make any comments please click here to contact us. The LPC would like to alert contractors in South Tyneside that GP's will be starting to prescribe Longtec and Shortec brands of Oxycodone MR in place of Oxycontin. It has been included as part of their newly released quality in prescribing scheme. Pharmacies may wish to adjust their stock holding accordingly to ensure patients are able to get the products prescribed and wastage in the pharmacy is reduced to a minimum. It is not a direct switch of current prescriptions however any newly initiated patients who are suitable may be started on the new brands. We would like to remind pharmacy contractors that the 2016/17 CPAF screening questionnaire will be available via NHSBSA from today Monday 6th June 2016 for four weeks. Pharmacy teams should have or will shortly receive an individual email with links to the CPAF screening questionnaire. If any pharmacy contractors have any problems or queries, please contact NHSBSA via email [email protected] For further information, please see the contract monitoring part of the PSNC website. |
