![]() The PGD's for EHC services in Gateshead and South Tyneside services are expiring. Both Gateshead Council and South Tyneside Council have updated their PGD's and have distributed them slightly differently. Please read below the section related to your council area and ensure you download the relevant PGD's to continue to offer the service. Gateshead Council Gateshead council recently contacted all providers of the EHC service in Gateshead via Pharmoutcomes. The message included the PGD however you can also download it from the Gateshead EHC service page on the GST LPC website. http://www.gandstlpc.net/ehc-gateshead.html Please note that the new PGD includes the new requirements for pharmacists which will come into effect in March 2017 and includes the replacement of a DBS check with the confirmation that an annual GPHC fitness to practice declaration has been made as well as the use of a declaration of competence via CPPE. Places Available - Leadership Training for Healthy Living Pharmacy Level 1 Quality Criteria17/10/2016 The new Healthy Living Pharmacy Level 1 Quality Criteria [1] requires either the pharmacist or pharmacy manager to have undergone Leadership training.
CPPE are running a Healthy Living Pharmacy Leadership workshop on the 20th Oct in Gateshead and there are still some places available. This is an opportunity for community pharmacists to explore the challenges and rewards of leadership and inspire them to develop their leadership skills and behaviours. The learning objectives for this workshop are: -To evaluate local health data and use it to plan pharmacy services. -Assess your leadership strengths and use it to identify areas for improvement. -Identify different leadership styles and discuss the strengths and limitations of each style. -Engage your team to deliver proactive healthy lifestyle advice. -Apply the principles of effective change management to support your team through the process of change. -Reflect on your own use of time and use the principles of time management to plan your time more effectively. -Delegate tasks efficiently and effectively. The workshop will run from 9:30am-4:00pm, with refreshments and buffet lunch provided. Please book your places on this workshop through the CPPE website www.cppe.ac.uk, Event ID: 45257 ![]() We have been contacted recently by a number of pharmacists querying access to a private PGD for this year’s flu season for pharmacists who have not been required to attend face to face training in 2016. Pharmacists are free to use Private PGD's to provide private vaccinations however they can not provide them using the NHS PGD. You will need to source your a Private PGD. Those who attended the LPC Commisioned Flu training with the QE Hospital last year will recentley have been contacted about using the QE PGD this years for private vacciantions. If you did not train with the QE you will need to use abother provider. There is a list of Flu training providers on the PSNC website. This year the LPC worked with the NPA to offer training. This training included a face to face option as well as a refresher training both of which will provide a Private PGD. Unfortunalty all our face to face training is now complete however the refresher training is still avaivlbel which will be suitable if you trained last year and are looking gain a private PGD this year. To qualify for the rate of £23.00 plus VAT you must inform the NPA that you have been signposted to them by NE LPCs. ![]() To help contractors make the most of the flu service Gateshead and South Tyneside LPC, working with some of our colleagues in other LPC's around the region arranged to have some prescription bags printed with a message dedicated to the flu service. These bags should have either been delivered to you last week or next. Look out for them and make sure you use them to help drive up your flu numbers. We have a limited supply of extra bags so if you run out please contact us and we may be able to supply you some more. Don't forget to claim your vaccinations each month through your PPA submission.
