Gateshead and South Tyneside LPC have been working over the past few months with the South Tyneside Health Collaboration on an exciting new service which will be provided from Community Pharmacy. In essence the service involves signposting eligible patients contacting GPs for an appointment to commissioned community pharmacies for an appointment there which might be a minor ailment intervention (with or without some new products via PGDs), or perhaps an element of long term management of a condition. It will be called GP 2 Pharmacy (GP2P).
We will be sending more information about this shortly and hope to have a launch event on an evening of 27th November 2018 so please hold the date. We are currently working on the final details of the service, however, we wanted to give you advance notice as we are working at a fast pace to implement the service as soon as possible. In the current NHS climate where every penny counts this is an exciting time for community pharmacy in South Tyneside. It underpins the value that community pharmacy contributes to the NHS and patients through easy access to local clinical care from a convenient cost effective locations and will help to improve access to GP surgeries for more complex situations. We look forward to providing you with more information as soon as we can. (The likely location of the launch event will be the Clarion (Formerly the Quality Hotel) in Boldon.
