Following discussions with Newcastle Gateshead CCG regarding pharmacies involvement in the covid vaccination service in Gateshead, the CCG have indicated that they will now be considering pharmacy sites in Gateshead which is great news for Pharmacies in the area..
The original Expression of Interest was run by NHS England in February however there is now a new window open for pharmacies to express an interest. This window is now open will be running until Sunday 18th April 2021.
We understand that many pharmacies in other CCG areas across the region have now been stood up to provide vaccinations from their pharmacies and believe that now Gateshead CCG will be considering pharmacies we would advise contractors to consider the opportunity and fill in the expression of interest.

It is important to note that as Gateshead currently has not listed any priority locations so contractors only need to fill in section 1 to express an interest. Section 2 will only be needed if you are approached by NHSE for more details. We would also say that you should not make any capital investments to set up at this moment and only do so if you get approached and have confirmation that your application will be progressed.
We would also like to point out that expressing an interest does not mean you will be chosen but equally it does not mean you need to commit at this stage either.
We would advise our contractors in Gateshead to think about this opportunity and put an expression of interest in so they can be considered when the CCG looks at its geography and looks to increase vaccination capacity.
