You may have received recently an invitation via email to a Sexual Health training session on 17th March 2020 advertised by First Contact Clinical as part of a Change 4 Life program. (See copy below)
While the LPC clearly supports any external training & continuing education, we would like to clarify that this is NOTthe accredited face to face training session required for the provision of EHC. This is normally facilitated by the local commissioners and advertised by us accordingly. This extra training is open to all staff and may be beneficial to help broaden your understanding of Sexual health. If you wish to attend it please follow the details in the flyer. Pleas note that all mandatory EHC training sessions will only be communicated via LPC and will clearly state that they are the required face to face training for the EHC service.

Please click here to see a message from the Clinical Lead Nurse at STARS in relation to the prescribing from their service. Please note the request for information after day 2 of a missed doses. Should you have any queries please contact Charlotte directly. The national CPCS service is continuing to refer patients into pharmacy alongside our own local referral service GP2P in South Tyneside. It is vitally important that you or a staff member are regularly checking for referrals. Please note that these referrals will come through to you throughout the day via the new EMIS diary on the dedicated laptop for GP2P (in ST only), and via PharmOutcomes for CPCS. Considering CPCS. For a Minor Illness referral, the patient is required to contact the pharmacy within 12 hours (this could be by phone but will primarily be them visiting the pharmacy). For an Urgent Supply referral, the patient is advised to phone the pharmacy within 30 minutes of their referral. If you have not heard from the patient it is important that you try and make contact with them. If you are unable to contact the patient, you must record this on the referral and close appropriately. It is really important that you close all referrals using the appropriate outcomes to make sure the NHS are aware of the status/outcome. For GP2P service in ST. The patient will attend at the dedicated time indicated on the diary. As this service contains elements above and beyond the normal low acuity conditions using PGDs it is vital that you are ready to deliver the service and have all necessary disposables (such as testing strips) available. We anticipate that demand for referral services will be high over the festive break, so it is important to start planning now to make sure the team are aware and ready to act upon referrals throughout this period and can offer the best level of care to your patients. These services provide the opportunity for community pharmacy to play a bigger role than ever within the urgent care system and allow us to showcase the value we add to the NHS. With the ever changing face of pharmacy, Gateshead and South Tyneside LPC, encourage all contractors to engage with not just these new services, but all services as fully as possible to ensure that they are a success for patients, your pharmacy, and the wider community pharmacy network. Should anyone feel they need additional support, please contact us via our website. Gateshead & South Tyneside LPC is pleased to announce that GP2P , our innovative transfer of care service between GPs and Community Pharmacies, has moved forward into an exciting new phase involving diary bookings via EMIS.
All community pharmacies commissioned to provide the service have been/are being provided with a laptop computer loaded with an EMIS diary function. This means that surgery staff will now very easily be able to send appointments direct to community pharmacies without using a telephone. The bookings will be made in real time identically to the bookings that are already made for the onsite GPs or practice nurse. Pharmacies are able to block out periods of time when the service is unavailable, for example at lunch periods or when a PGD trained pharmacist is not present. David Carter the LPC Chairman said “this new extension to the GP2P service is very welcome at this busy time of year and will facilitate appointments immeasurably. Pharmacies will be better placed to provide this much needed service to patients - taking even more pressure off GPs by providing increased numbers of interventions” As you will recall, the LPC ran an engagement event in October at which we explored the development of primary care networks (PCNs) throughout our patch. Following the event, we asked contractors to confirm the PCN in which they felt most comfortable within. Most Pharmacies fit nicely into one of the networks based on the majority of their prescription volume, although for some it was more difficult to sort out. Some contractors have not yet ratified their PCN, please check the list on the LPC Website and let us know which Network you wish to be involved with. . Those who have responded already are listed below. We also asked contractors to put themselves forward for election as PCN lead. This lead will liaise with other pharmacy members of the PCN, the LPC and the clinical director of the network itself. The LPC had 2 unopposed nomination forms submitted within the time-frame for 2 of the 8 PCNs within our locality. At the LPC meeting held on 21/11/19 these forms were validated and accepted. Consequently the PCN leads for these 2 PCNs have been duly elected without a vote. Congratulations. The names of these 2 leads are indicated next to the relevant PCN below. Also at the LPC meeting on 21/11/19, the LPC agreed to support the development of PCNs throughout Gateshead and South Tyneside by appointing LPC support officers for each network and these people are also indicted below. For the two PCNs with elected leads, your lead will be in touch shortly to invite you to a meeting to consider the next steps. For the 6 PCNs without a lead, the LPC support officer will act as interim lead and invite you to a meeting to consider the next steps including the formal election of a lead within your PCN. The LPC would like to remind contractors that engaging with PCN's is a part of the PQS and as such if you do not engage you can not claim the associated points and fees.
