Working in Collaboration with the Local Sexual Health Commissioners, the LPC has arranged an event for the contractors of Gateshead & South Tyneside that will focus on Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS). This event is open to Pharmacists, Foundation Year Pharmacists and Locums working across Gateshead and South Tyneside. The aim of the event is to ensure community pharmacists are confident in providing the national Pharmacy Contraceptive Service (PCS) service. This is different to the regional training that has been recently advertised. This is more deliveery focused to help get started as well as a clinical update from Katherine Gilmore Local Consultant who normally delivers the local EHC training. This will complement the CPPE training. There will be a live demo of the pharmoutcomes module and an opportunity to ask any questions about the service delivery and day to day practice. The evening will cover the clinical aspects (Dr Katherine Gilmore), the service specification (Sami Hanna/Pete Horrocks) and service tips from experienced Pharmacists currently offering the service (Laura Rowley/Zoe Chan). Clinical Skills Training - To Help with Pharmacy First Date Monday 12th February 2024 - 6.00pm Refreshments Meeting starts 6:30pm Location Clarion Boldon This event will help pharmacists gain the skills required to operate Pharmacy First. It will focus on practical face 2 face training for ENT and history taking. Pharmacists are requested to complete 2 cliniskills modules prior to attending the Face 2 Face course ; • ENT • history taking You can register and access the modules at https://www.cliniskills.com/community-pharmacists/ OTOSCOPES You will need to bring an otoscope with you as this will be needed for the practical session on the evening. Hypertension Case Finding Service Training Date Monday 18th Sept 2023, 6pm Refreshements Meeting starts 6:30pm Location Clarion Boldon Hypertension Case Finding Service Training The LPC is holding a Hypertension Case Finding Training Event on Monday 18th September 2023 at the Clarion Hotel in Boldon. Refreshments will be available from 6pm with the meeting starting at 6.30pm This event will provide an update, guidance and service overview of the Nationally commissioned Hypertension Case Finding Service. There is an opportunity to develop practical skills, confidence and best practice advice from pharmacy teams. We would encourage pharmacy team members to attend who are responsible for service delivery (pharmacist, regular locums, foundation year pharmacists and pharmacy techs). These staff members can then go back to work and brief the wider pharmacy teams on recruitment, best practice, etc. Please feel free to bring along any BP and ABPM machines to the event to utilise in the workshops. Following popular demand from pharmacies in our area, the LPC is happy to announce it is facilitating a clinical skills training event to help pharmacists in the area gain the skills and confidence to make ENT clinical examinations in order to help them to enhance the CPCS services.
We are also delighted to announce we have secured funding to enable us to give each pharmacy in Gateshead & South Tyneside an Otoscope to help with ENT examinations. We are hoping to be be able to issue these at the training event. * As you will know the LPC has been working with PCN Leads to help to increase CPCS in the patch and this training will help to make the service a success. The training will be hosted by a local GP, Anji Curry who will give you some clinical insight on how to make the examinations and what to look out for. We anticipate this to be popular so urge you to book asap. Working with our local commissioners in Gateshead & South Tyneside we are putting on an update training for EHC. New PGD's have now been developed and will take effect on 1st April 2023 so it is desirable that you attend in order to recieve the new information and training .
It has been a number of years since we have had any face to face training on this subject. This will help you to complete declarations of competence to continue to provide the service. Guest speaker will be Dr Katherine Gilmore, Consultant in Community Sexual and Reproductive Health South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. She will be xplaining the changes in the PGD's as well as giving a more general EHC update. The event is open to all contractors, pharmacists, locums, foundation year pharmacists and a key staff member per pharmacy. Following requests on updates on services and the increased push to use CPCS the LPC are putting on an event to help pharmacies with Services. This is designed to cover an update on the services commissioned and tips, advice and key information in order to deliver successfully. The event is open to all contractors, pharmacists, locums, foundation year pharmacists and one key staff member per pharmacy. We recommend that all of the pharmacies attend, including locums, plus a key member of staff who will be working with locums (in the absence of a pharmacist manager or on days off, etc) to ensure continuity of service delivery. The LPC, working with CPPCE, has organised a clinical upskilling training event.
This event will be held at the the Clarion Hotel in East Boldon on 16th November 2022. The event is open to Pharmacists who have not attended previous clinical skills training and is aimed at those who require training in clinical examinations of ENT, history taking etc. This will help with services such as CPCS and GP2P. Pharmaists who have attended the course historically (at the time of GP2P launch or CPCS launch) will not be eligible to attend as places are limited to those who have not had any training.
