South Tyneside Covid Testing

On yesterday’s call we agreed the process for rolling out staff testing to care home, domiciliary care and pharmacy staff. The service will be based at Stanhope Parade Medical Centre. We anticipate that the service will run between 10:00-17:00 Monday – Sunday.
 
Testing for Coronavirus is offered to staff self-isolating due to possible infection or household infection, but who are otherwise well enough to return to work. The test is requested by the employer as an occupational health intervention to speed return to work. Please note that the staff member has to be registered with a South Tyneside GP to meet agreed criteria for testing.
 
Organisations will have to follow the guidance set out in the attached SOP and will have to complete the attached form to request a test. Hopefully we have created a governance and administrative system to ensure that the right people get access to the testing in a timely manner.
