This app (https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS )is now up and running and is a little bit like catching an Uber.
Basically If a patient needs help, say a delivery, they register the job on the app. The nearest volunteer picks up the job, or rejects it, and eventually a volunteer is agreed . The volunteer then calls at the pharmacy to pick up the parcel and delivers it to the patient.
The LPC is a little nervous about recommending that pharmacies initiate the help themselves for deliveries; as there are issues like accountability, insurance etc to consider...although it’s entirely up to you.
It’s probably much better to recommend that patients initiate the help for deliveries themselves.
