Methadone Fees Calculator

Our colleagues at East Riding and Hull LPC have developed  a useful Methadone fee checker which allow contractors to see how the new payment structure as a result of the drug tariff simplification rules that will come into force in July  will affect them.

The table will calculate the current and future fees for liquid methadone based on the number of clients you currently have for each type of prescription.  Please ensure that you read the description of each form type carefully before you choose it.

Where the table refers to single dose containers, the price is based on the prescription being correctly written to include the wording required to be paid for dispensing in daily dose containers.

Please see the psnc guide to ensure that existing prescriptions are eligible for this payment method.

The table  lists some of the common types of FP10MDA prescribing patterns and should only be used as a guide.  It should be noted that the example 14 day (12 collects) prescription and the 7 day (6 collects) prescription are based on these being supervised, thus generating 14 and 7 sets of fees respectively (if correctly endorsed).  All figures in first table are in pence. Current / July fee relates fee per form. Current / July totals refer to averaged monthly income based on the number of clients entered on each line.
It is important to contact us and let us know if  you are concerned by any large predicted decreases in fees.

The LPC's are working closely with the PSNC to understand the impact of these changes on pharmacies and will feed information back.

Summary Totals:

  Monthly Annual
Total of fees before July £ £
Total of fees after July £ £
Difference £ £

Split Pack Fee / Container Allowance:
This calculator includes the changes to the container allowance and the new split pack arrangements. It assumes the volume of methadone liquid being dispensed falls outside the pack sizes listed in Part VIIIA of the Tariff and will incur a split pack fee.

Rounding:
This calculator currently rounds at the generation of the monthly total to the nearest whole pence. It is believed that NHS BSA Prescription Services round at the same point, but it does mean that the figures will be slightly different to any attempt to multuiply up the per form example fees. Due to the minitations on JavaScript, there is an inherent floating point error which results in excessive decimal places generated in the 3 right hand side columns. This does NOT affect the accuracy of the total figures.
