Emergecny Hormonal Contraception
Gateshead Public Health Pharmacy Service
Gateshead Public Health currently offer free EHC to the public via a commissioned service through Pharmacy. Any Pharmacy can put its self forward to offer the service however must comply with contractual requirements stated below. Each providing pharmacy must have a contract with Gateshead Council Public Health and each Pharmacist supplying the service under the contract must fulfill the requirements below. Please note if a pharmacist registers to offer the service but does not complete the requirements below it could result in the contract being removed from the pharmacy for non-compliance.

Pharmacy

Pharmacist
Each Pharmacist offering the Service need to complete the following requirements as per the PGD.
1. Attend an EHC Training Update
These are held and are advertised by the LPC via our news feed email, twitter or Facebook. Ensure you are follow us or sign up to the mailing list to ensure you here about the training updates. Currently there is no training planned but we will update this page when they become available.

IF YOU REGISTER AT ONE OF THE UPDATES AND SUBSEQUENTLY DO NOT FULFILL THE REMAINING REQUIREMENT IT COULD RESULT IN THE CONTRACT BEING REMOVED FROM YOUR PHARMACY. EVEN IF OTHER PHARMACISTS HAVE COMPLETED THE REQUIREMENTS AND ARE OFFERING THE SERVICE.

4.Obtain a DBS Check
You need to check with your employer's HR department to see if they can facilitate a DBS Check. This must be supplied to Public Health.
Should you have an issue getting DBS check through your employer or should if you are an independent. Gateshead council acts as an umbrella organisation and can help facilitate a DBS check. For further information please contact [email protected] or telephone 4332206.
